So Nick Shanks finally has the long-awaited answer on why 64-bit computing is faster, quoting from The Times:
Mr Gates confirmed that the new version of Windows, codenamed Longhorn, would enable computers to process data at 64 bits per second, compared with the current standard of 32 bits per second.
I for one can’t wait to upgrade to Windows Longhorn for a whopping 8 bytes per second!
P.S.: I realize I made it sound like Nick Shanks claimed this; this is of course not the case.
