Two Sides of a Fight

November 14, 2010

The liberal fights with a fencer’s foil. Mincing the opponent’s argument, the liberal tries to score with quick, precise jabs using intellect, wit, and facts.

The conservative fights with a samurai sword. One heavy-handed hit and he cuts his opponent in half. No facts needed, just the adroit use of ignorance to persuade the masses. ‘My opponent’s gay!’ Or ‘Family values!’ Little nothings that score a bigger hit with the masses than all of his or her opponent’s jabs, which might sting, but aren’t fatal.

Ah, anti-intellectualism. Source
